Bill retired from federal service after a 20-year tenure with the United States Probation Office. Bill’s 6 years of service as a United States Probation Officer for the Southern District of New York was followed by 14 years of service for the District of Maine. His work in Maine included supervising the U.S. Probation Office in Bangor; establishing a bail and alternative sentencing program for Penobscot County; and organizing educational programs for judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys and probation officers. Bill has attended numerous seminars regarding the application of the United States Sentencing Guidelines since their inception in 1987. Bill’s work also included interfacing with his Canadian and state counterparts in training pertaining to such issues as domestic violence, drug and alcohol addiction, and customs and immigration.
